Beaches
Cala Justell
A pristine, natural beach in a protected area with diverse aquatic plants, clear waters, and a mix of sand, pebbles, and rocks.
A beach like the ones of old.
This cove, also known as Gestell, is a completely natural stretch of sand for two reasons. The first is that it is included within the Rojala-Platja del Torn Natural Protected Area, a zone that encompasses a small stretch of coastline which retains one of the most scenic beaches and stretches of coast in the Catalan south-east. The second is that it is a beach with no facilities and, therefore, you will only find sea, sand and vegetation.
It is also located in a designated wetland that has been restored in recent years. This action has enabled the diversification of aquatic plant communities, which provide a wide range of refuge for species such as the samaruc, which is being reintroduced to the ecosystem.
The composition of the beach is quite varied along its approximate 170 metres in length and 40 metres in width. Between the dune headlands, fine, golden sand alternates with pebbles and rock. The waters, which are accessed via a relatively steep slope, are calm and have excellent clarity.
