Tivissa, inland on the road to the River Ebro, is a historic village with a genuine character. Its old quarter is very attractive and has been very well preserved. Charming, mysterious winding streets and alleyways, entrance portals to the fortified enclosure, manor houses dating from around 500 years ago, the Market Square where trials were held and the old castle are some of the most emblematic features of this medieval core. Its surroundings also have a strong character and areas of great historical interest, such as the Iberian settlement of Castellet de Banyoles, a site from which the Iberians controlled the River Ebro.
