BTT Pratdip - Tivissa
Public laundry (washing machines)
Historic washhouses feature stone walls, four basins for laundry, and water from a local fountain, offering a glimpse into past communal life.
The walls of the washhouses are full of intimate, everyday stories of the women who washed and did the laundry.
They still hold memories of a bygone era, when they were full of women doing the washing.
The washhouses at the Sèquia del Camí were built between 1890 and 1900 with rough-hewn stone walls.
They have four basins: two covered ones for soaping and rinsing the laundry, and two open-air ones that were used only for washing the clothes of the sick or the deceased.
The water comes from the Camí Ditch fountain, and any surplus is used to water the vegetable plots.
